I have quite a diverse and large class now and sometimes I really have to make sure that the students are engaging. When I instituted “Flipping the Classroom”, I initiated earning points. Students can earn up to 5 points each class and then over time use points to their test or project grades. The maximum they can use on each test or project is 5. I move about the class and try to encourage questions from these students. By week three, they are as hungry for the points and this increases participation. They teach their classmates words, customs and the classmates are teaching them jargon. Great interactions (Bergmann, & Sams).
