Good Morning Professor & Classmates,
Wow week eight is finally here, and I wish everyone the best of luck achieving their goals. It’s been very fun being your classmate, and Dr K is a good person and excellent professor. I also hope everyone maintains there resilience through these difficult times, and keep moving forward. As for my class presentation I chose a chameleon because it was a reptile I never seen before until I was in boot camp in Florida, then I seen one again in a pet store in California . I was curious about a reptile that can change its skin color to due to its mood, and that the males have hemipenes, aka(two penises). When I did my research on my presentation I learned that there is a lot to know and animals from the way they hunt , eat, sleep, mate, and survive the elements and evade predators. Its definitely more to chameleons that it’s color changing skin, that have bulging eyes that can look and two different thing at the same time. The chameleons tongue is long and sticky to catch it’s prey. The females judge the males by their skin color for mating purposes, and dull color chameleons don’t get the girls. To be honest with you guys, I never liked writing papers and I learned a lot about them in this course, thanks to Dr K. I showed my presentation to my daughter and she liked, so hopefully you guys will also.
Lastly I took statistics along with biology this term as part of my prerequisites for pa school. This has been a hard term for me and I have a few more sciences to take before I can apply to pa school. My plan was to transfer soon , because Thomas Jefferson was giving me more in transfer credits but I might stay a little while longer due to the pandemic.Next term I have three courses, chemistry, microbiology,& sociology, then organic chemistry the following term.I learned about fighting through this term because it was not always pretty, due to work and family life but I can say that Dr K helped me by giving me encouragement . Its been a pleasure getting to know everyone, and good luck in the future.

Good Morning Class,
Well first and foremost, I just wanted to congratulate ya’ll on getting thru this course over the past few months. I hope many of you didn’t have many issue over the past few weeks considering what is going on around the world — I know it’s been extremely challenging for me not only because of some family things, but also because I’ve been deemed Mission Essential at work. This has led into extended hours in the office due to a ton of working groups for my organization. None-the-less, I think I made it thru this course!
I really enjoyed learning a little bit more about the American alligator, as it’s’ something that I see quite often here in Florida. I’m not quite sure that learning about the alligator has increased my overall joy of biology, but what it did do, was allow me to be a little more comfortable in teaching myself about the things related to biology. Though I wasn’t able to include the videos in my presentation due to time concerns, I really enjoyed watching and reading about how the alligator hunts. There were a few great videos out there with Alligators vs. Bears/Pythons!!!
This was my last class (along with a Sr. class I’m currently taking)!!! I can’t tell you how awesome it feels! I’ll finally have a full weekend (again) to spend with my family as well as getting my lunches breaks back! I’ve been accepted for the June graduating class – and will have a BS in IT Management.
I haven’t quite decided if I’m going to continue my education after this, as I’m looking to retire from the military next year. With retirement coming up I have a ton to focus on before the official date, and I don’t want to overload myself – I kind of want to enjoy the retirement! Anyways, it has been really great working with you guys over the past few months and I wish you and your family’s good health during this very troubling times! Take care!
Best,
Mickey
