They appear in the discussion forum guidelines). Preface the quote by explaining how it illustrates your argument or fits into your analysis.

Quotations should be no longer than 2.5 lines.

Use in-text citations (Foner, Give Me Liberty, 222; or Foner, Voices of Freedom, 234)

Use clear transition sentences to keep the paper flowing and illustrate how the issues that you selected are connected.

Remember, historians are concerned
with cause and effect relationships and with change over time – think
about these types of connections as you write transition sentences.

Concluding paragraph should summarize your main points and restate the significance of your argument.

DO NOT USE ANY SOURCES OTHER THAN GIVE ME LIBERTY AND VOICES OF FREEDOM.

Citation of outside sources will result in a significant reduction of points.
