Having attended St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College and achieved As across the board for his A Levels, Ousama went on to read Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. Key modules included Econometrics, Advanced Economic Analysis, Economics of Developing Countries and Economics Development of Modern China.
During his second year at University, Ousama applied for the Teach First Leadership and Development Programme, paving the way to graduate full-time teaching and working towards his PGCE.

Education Consultant, Edullect – A project was with the Kazakhstan government, focusing on two areas: 1. Developing the economics curriculum for six new British colleges, including the creation of a Scheme of Work, assessment plan, tracking and monitoring systems and process to measure progress and resources 2. Providing 40 hours of in person training to senior and middle managers on pedagogical training, systems and process, OFSTED and changes in educational needs and standards.
Head of Economics – Ousama transformed an underperforming department with negative progress, low pass rate and low high grades into a flagship department for the college, achieving the highest grades amongst Academic subjects. With clear expectations Ousama implemented consistent in class assessments, student centred policies and strategies and consistent exam practice. Since this, the department has grown larger and is now planning to launch a new T Level course in Accounting and Finance. Student wider participation opportunities have grown with more learners given opportunities to work experience, internships and degree apprenticeship programmes at top accounting and finance companies including and not limited to, PwC, KPMG, Goldman Sachs and Royal Bank of Canada. 100% pass rates and over 60% of students achieving high grades has led to many students accepting places at universities including Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial and Warwick.
Director of Innovation for Learning and Teaching – Ousama led on Digital Strategy, incorporating digital technologies into teaching and learning across all curriculum areas, increasing student progress and attainment, digital skills and employability. This role explores cost digital saving strategies and business partnership. The College achieved the Apple Regional Training Center of Excellence, identifying it as a best practice institution in the use of digital technology in education, enabling it to provide national training to other educational institutions.
Ousama has been a tutor at Expert Tuition since 2015 and tutored over 500 hours. All his students have achieved A*/A. Strategies used are:
1. Exam focused in every session – looking at different types of exams to support application, analysis and evaluation skills.
2. Tips and Tricks – providing insider tips on achieving top marks in the exam.
3. Relation – humor and mutual respect facilitate a learning environment. Students are encouraged to make mistakes during the session as this is part of the learning process.
4. Regularly feedback provided on progress
5. Revision techniques, time management skills and exam resources are all provided.
