Background
Alexander graduated from Oxford University with a 2:1 in History and Politics and recently completed a Master’s in World History at King’s College London. He received A*A*A in his A-Levels, as well as an additional A* in English Literature at AS Level.
He has developed a passion for learning over several years in academia, especially in the subjects of History, Politics, and Philosophy.
He enjoys reading and has done so extensively across a variety of genres. In terms of favourite books, Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian or James Ellroy’s American Tabloid are at the top of his list.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE & APPROACH
Alexander started tutoring after graduating in 2015, and has experience of helping students with GCSE, A-level, and undergraduate work. He believes that tutoring cannot succeed unless the student and tutor make a connection, and he especially values conversing with students: knowledge and aptitude in the humanities thrive on discussion, and he hopes that students come away with both a solid base of skills and knowledge, and a greater personal investment in what they are learning and why it matters.
His favourite thing about tutoring is the ability to tailor his approach to individual students and find an approach that can help them do their best. He approaches tutoring first and foremost as an interaction, with his job being to make content accessible and to give students the tools to apply their knowledge in exams. His focus is on making sure that students gain the skills they need to get the grades they need – and to enjoy studying more in future.
为什么要进行辅导?
I wanted to become a tutor for two main reasons: I wanted to continue thinking about and analysing my subjects, and I wanted to use my own experience in academia to help others who might be struggling to achieve and excel.

“Without your help, I’m not sure I would have passed’ – Talia, A-level History student

“I cannot recommend Alex highly enough as a history tutor. When I made the decision to study AS Level history outside of school only 6 months before the scheduled exam date, I turned to Alex for tutorials to achieve the grade I was aiming for, which I wouldn’t have achieved without his guidance. He is approachable, professional, his lessons are interesting and he goes above and beyond what I expected in a tutor” – James, AS-level History student
